The Taming of the Shrew

Synopsis

Directed by Harvey Wolfe

Set in 1950s post-war Italy, this production re-imagines “The Taming of the Shrew” as a stylish Mafia comedy.  Verona is run by powerful families, marriages are business deals, and reputation is everything.

Bianca Minola is desired by many, but her fiery sister Katherina stands in the way. Enter Petruchio — a brash outsider willing to match Kate’s energy blow-for-blow. What follows is a fast-paced battle of wit, pride, and power, full of mistaken identities, slapstick chaos, and sharp comedy. This version leans into physical comedy, dry humour, and playful irony, while allowing space to interrogate power and partnership beneath the surface.

A rag-tag group of quirky, diverse, mis-matched female soldiers, stationed at the International Forces “Camp Firebird” (Training Camp), must band together to stage a morale-boosting Parade Drill to impress a visiting general. It all goes horribly wrong when it becomes a variety show, while the team navigate military mishaps, personal dramas, and the absurdity of army life.
