Tickets for Diplomatic Relations are now on sale

The Box Office is now open for our next production Diplomatic Relations. If you love to kick back and enjoy watching some fast-moving fun and frolics onstage, this hilarious comedy will be right up your street!

It should be a typical day in the office for Miranda Carruthers, the Australian Ambassador to Guaranguay, but then her husband starts behaving very strangely.  Is he worried about one of his dodgy deals, or is his hot-blooded mistress becoming too demanding?  Miranda’s used to turning a blind eye to her husband’s activities and, anyway, she has enough on her plate organising a grand reception as well as avoiding the unwelcome attentions of the hot-blooded local Chief of Police. The last thing she needs is two attractive female visitors arriving out of the blue and her hapless intern uncovering things that are definitely best left unseen if she’s to keep her job. Any why does the embassy suddenly need so much extra maintenance?

Please note: this show features adult themes and partial nudity, so it’s not one for the children!

Seating is in tables of eight – buy individual tickets or come with a group of friends. Remember to BYO drinks and nibbles and enjoy an entertaining evening.

Troy Beard, a Sydney visitor, scooped the $1300 retro classic guitar that was Coolum Theatre Players’ star raffle prize last month for its production of the Queen musical We Will Rock You. Troy bought his winning ticket on the opening night of the production.

Troy travelled back to Coolum over Christmas and claimed the magnificent Hagstrom Condor Retroscape donated by long-term Coolum Theatre Players (CTP) sponsor the Mooloolaba Music Centre. Left,  Jenn Muller presents the gorgeous retro classic to Troy on behalf of the CTP committee.

December auditions notice

By | 2020 shows, Diplomatic Relations

Open auditions for our first production of 2020 will be taking place at Coolum Civic Centre on Monday, December 9 and again on Wednesday, December 11 starting at 7.30pm.

Diplomatic Relations is a classic fast-paced farce set in the Australian Embassy in the Republic of Guaranguay, somewhere deep in South America…

The Ambassador is trying to organise a grand independence day reception for the local dignitaries, while her husband has an unexpected female visitor who can’t seem to find anything to wear. If he can find the $2m dollars he put in a safe place he’s off to start a new life with a passionate local femme fatale, that’s if she can fight off her persistent ex-lover, who also happens to be the Chief of Police. The last thing anyone needs is an official from Canberra investigating the embassy’s accounts and an anarchist planning to cause havoc – and that’s just the half of it!
