Don’t Dress for Dinner – Directed by Nick Smith & Jesse Hana

Synopsis

Directed by Nick Smith & Jesse Hana.

Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, whilst his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi. It’s foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well…. suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress is unable to cook. Suppose everyone’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.

So well received by our audiences, this classic farce went like a bullet train.  The cast were wonderful and it was beautifully realised by the whole team.  Cast shout outs to Julie Howarth, Sean McDermott, Ewen Cameron, Sarah Tweed, Michelle England and Amy Talbot.

AUGUST 2025

Cabaret, Trivia & Prizes – From the minds of Linda Gefken & Liza Burgess

This was an occasion where Coolum Theatre Players did what it did best!  Fun, theatre and silliness! And one night only – so it was a case of being there or being square!

It was a suitably silly evening packed with Cabaret, Trivia and Fancy Dress!  No one knew what was planned but there were appearances from Frank N Furter, there was a little bit of Chicago and a little bit of Cabaret.  Even some Little Shop of Horrors!  Am riffing now.

But one thing I do know – this was a fabulously frenetic and famously fun flavour for flamboyant fashionista fearta bods!  (see what I did there?).  Held on Friday 22 August @7.30pm Coolum Civic Centre.   This made sense – total sense, obviously.  A wonderful time had by all.  Thank you, Linda & Liza and all who took part!!!
