Meet Colum Theatre Players lead cast of “Beauty and the Beast” for this school holiday entertainment: Belle the beauty; played by Taylor Rouse and the Beast, is Luka Burgess.
Taylor, a 9th grader at St Andrew’s Anglican College in Peregian Springs, was born in Tennessee in the USA, adopted 2 weeks after birth and moved to Australia. At age 6 her parents encouraged her to start performing. Acting is her number 1 passion and Taylor wants to continue this as a career.
She recently performed in “Romeo and Juliet” with Little Seed Theatre Company, as Peter, the serving man. Taylor has been in many productions including “Peter Pan the Panto”, Alice Dreaming and “Waterspout Hero,” for which she was awarded Best Actor at the 2015 Sunshine Coast Youth Theatre Festival.
Luka is a 15 year old actor and student at the Good Shepherd Lutheran College. He’s been studying with Little Seed Theatre Company for the past three years, performing diverse roles in a myriad of productions including “Common Ground”, “Man of La Mancha and “Saturday Night Live”. Luka won a distinction for playing a bully at the Sunshine Coast Theatre Festival 2016. He’s very excited to be performing his first titular role as “The Beast”.
Directed by Johanna Wallace with Musical Director Heather Groves, audiences will be entranced by this musical production starring many talented youngsters.
