LOST – a lab/poodle by the name of “Sylvia”

FOUND – by Coolum Theatre Players’ director, Linda Gefken!

Linda has selected two of Coolum’s favourite talented actors, last seen together in “Sweet Charity” – Jesse Hana Ellison to play Sylvia and Shaun Bennett to play Greg.  Alongside Kathryn Rose as Greg’s wife Kate,  Linda is also taking on the three smaller character roles of Tom, Phyllis and Leslie.

To bring you up to speed, Greg, a financial broker whose career is winding down, brings home a dog he found at Stumer’s Creek — or that has found him — bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age.

To Kate, a public—school English teacher with great opportunities to further her career, Sylvia becomes a rival for affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just doesn’t understand the relationship between man and dog.

The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.

This modern canine comedy about a marriage and a dog is sensitive and heart-warming.  And anyone who owns a family pet will truly enjoy Coolum Theatre Players interpretation and production of “Sylvia” by the esteemed Linda Gefken.
